Berendina received the highly prestigious certification of a Great Place To Work® in 2023.

Merit Award for Compliance at the 57 th Annual Report Awards by CA Sri Lanka

BMIC received a Merit Award for Compliance at the 57th Annual Report Awards Competition organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka by competing under the “Finance Companies and Leasing Companies (Total Assets up to LKR 20 Billion)”.

BMIC awarded as The Best Microfinance Company in Sri Lanka 2021 by Global Banking and Finance Review

‘The Best Microfinance Company in Sri Lanka’ award was conferred by The Global Banking & Finance Awards after a thorough evaluation of significant factors such as the number of active borrowers, extent of reaching out to smaller communities, gross loan amount as well as number of loans disbursed during the year.

BMIC awarded as The Best Agricultural Lending Company in Sri Lanka 2021 by Global Banking and Finance Review

Agricultural loans offered, loan approval and follow up time, number of loans issued during the last two years, as well as the range of lending products were the important factors that contributed to BMIC winning the award for ‘The Best Agricultural Lending Company in Sri Lanka’.

Donors Choice Award’ at the International Competition conducted by SCALE Green Creative Adaptation Awards 2021 in USA

BMIC won this award for its innovative sustainable approach for Biogas Production among its clients who are into dairy farming. BMIC follows the triple bottom line approach dedicated to the green concept which consists of People, Planet and Profit under the theme of “Save the Environment for Today and Future” in all its activities. This is indeed a milestone achievement by the company being the only nomination from Sri Lanka from any industry to be shortlisted as well as the only Sri Lankan Company to win an award at this international competition.

Our nominated field officer, Mr. D.G. Sanath Jayalath was selected as an honorable mentioned winner for WPF Field Officer Appreciation Award 2020 and he was awarded with a certificate and a cash prize.

BMIC’s nominated Field Officer, Mr. Rathnayake Mudhiyanselage Ajith Kumara, was selected as an honorable mentioned winner for WPF Field Officer Appreciation Award 2018 and he was awarded with a certificate and a cash prize.

BMIC received a Merit Award for Compliance at the 54th Annual Report Awards Competition organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka by competing under the “Finance Companies, Leasing Companies & Other Financial Institutions (Total Assets up to LKR 20 Billion)” category for the very first time.

2017

Appreciation Award from SIYB Association

BMIC received a special appreciation award from the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Association of Sri Lanka in recognition of BMIC being an Active Training Partner of the Association. The training services conducted by BMIC was honoured at the Annual Convention of SIYB Association held on 27th September 2017 at the Renuka City Hotel. The award was presented by the Country Director of the ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and Maldives – Ms. Simrin Singh and received by Manager of Enterprise Development Services of BMIC.

Gold Award at the 53rd Annual Report Awards by CA Sri Lanka

As a result of the continuous improvements done in line with the feedback given by CA Sri Lanka, BMI (the predecessor of BMIC), was able to win the ‘Gold Award’, under the category of “Not-For-Profit Organizations (NPO) including Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO)”. This achievement was backed by the strong commitment of the Board of Directors and Management of BMI towards good governance, compliance and transparency in their operations, as well as reporting to their stakeholders.

2016

Silver Award at the 52nd Annual Report Awards

At the 52nd Annual Report Awards organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), BMI won the Silver Award in the not-for-profit organization’s category. This is the first time in the history that a MFI received this award from CA.

As a result of continuous improvements done in line with feedback given by CA Sri Lanka, the 2015 Annual Report of BMI won the “Silver Award” at the 52nd Annual Report Awards under the ‘not-for-profit’ organizations category. This shows the strong commitment of the Board of Directors and Management of BMI towards good governance, compliance and transparency in operation as well as reporting the same to the stakeholders

A Finalist of WPF Asia Pacific Field Officer Appreciation Award

Micro Finance Officer, Mr Ranjith Siriwardena from Manupa branch won the Asia Field Officer Appreciation Award 2016 from the Whole Planet Foundation (“WPF”). The award recognizes outstanding contribution to his field of work by a Micro Finance Officer. This was the second time that a Micro Finance Officer from BMI won this particular award.
