Berendina renovates the House of Geethani Ariyawansha in Bulathkohupitiya

BDS has financially contributed to renovate the house of H.P. Geethani Sujeewa Ariyawansha (46 yrs) living at Narangala Grama Niladhari Divisions in Bulathkohupitiya Divisional Secretariat Division, Kegalle District. Geethani is with her daughter Praweena Prabodani (20 yrs) and two sons Malith Dilshan and Nawidu Thimhara (12 yrs). She is the breadwinner of the family. She works as a casual labour in the same village while looking after the children. In addition, they receive the Samurdhi allowance.

The Geethani family were living in an incomplete house which was constructed using the blocks and roofing tile. They felt very unsafe. As per our observation, the roof of the house was very dilapidated and there were no proper windows and doors installed for the house as well. Considering the vulnerability and low-income status of the family, BDS has supported to the house renovation work. Geethani said, “We are feeling safe. Now on I can fall sleep peacefully. We cannot thank you enough. I am really appreciating Berendina’s work”.
