Berendina Empowers Agri Sector by establishing 31 High Quality Compost Production Enterprises
As Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector moved towards increased use of organic manure, there is a huge demand for good quality organic manure produced in the country. Berendina mooted the new project of promoting production of high quality compost at rural level.
Thirty-one (31) new compost production businesses are established under this initiative. Machineries such as Shredder Machines and Compost Bag Closer Machines are provided as donation for 31 entrepreneurs hailing from 11 operational districts of Berendina including Ampara, Anuradhapura, Badulla, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kegalle, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee and Vavuniya.
The official Launch of the Project was carried out via ZOOM Online Conference Technology from the Head Office of Berendina on 06 July 2022 with the participation of Mr. Anura Atapattu, Managing Director – BMIC, Mr. Charith Fernando, Deputy Managing Director – BMIC, Mr. R. Rajesh, Senior Manager, Enterprise Development Services – BMIC and other officials, connecting all operational regions. The official Machineries handing over ceremonies held simultaneously on the same day in all operational regions with the participation of special dignitaries.
