Berendina Enhance School Teachers’ Skills through Workshop

An educational skills enhancement workshop was organized by Berendina to the teaching staff of Mahamankadawala Vidyalaya and Katukaliyawa widyadeepa Maha Vidyalaya in Anuradhapura recently. This workshop was conducted on 17 September 2022 at Anuradhapura. 42 teachers of respective schools actively participated in the workshop. The workshop was conducted by the Senior Lecturer of Rajarata University, Mr. H. G. Chaminda Sampath. This initiative is organized under the Education Development Program of Berendina.

The main objective of the workshop was to develop and inculcate skills related to teaching at school’s environment. The resource person covered some of the most important segments in the teaching field including Identifying Weaknesses by self-assessment, preparing you as a teacher, understanding the responsibility of guiding children to conquer the world of work, the value of updating your skills being a teacher and the importance of treating all children equally.

Periodically, Berendina implements various activities related to education sector. Under its School Development Program 2022, titled “The Innovative Modern Education for the Next Generation”, Berendina budgeted over 04 Mn to implement various activities. These activities include, assess the capacity of School Development Societies (SDSs), facilitate SDSs to identify the existing gaps in the schools, improve pedagogical skills of teachers, provide smart boards to the classes in Grade 3, work with SDSs to improve infrastructure facilities to create a smart classroom, provide a mini library for the primary section, provide supplementary learning materials focusing on G.C.E. (O/L) examination, conduct seminars focusing on G.C.E. (O/L) examination, improve English language and IT skills of the students from Grade 6 to 11 in the selected schools, provide career guidance for all students from Grade 9 to 11 in the selected schools as well as support extracurricular activities in the selected schools.
