Berendina Implements Youth Career Guidance Program for Plantation Youth

Berendina collaborated with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) to launch a project aimed at re-employing youth as skilled or semi-skilled workers. These young people were from the plantation community but worked as unskilled laborers outside of the plantation. These youths lost work opportunities and were unemployed for nearly two years as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This project included 19 Career Guidance Programs for 506 youth. Individual vocational counselling sessions were also given for 122 youth who were unable to attend the first sessions. These initiatives covered 21 estates owned by Kelani Valley Plantation PLC, Kotagala Plantation PLC, and Hatton Plantations PLC.
