Berendina Launches “Life Line” Project to Support its Micro Credit
Berendina has launched its latest relief action project under the title “Berendina Life Line”, that aims to support its microcredit clients who are currently facing financial hardships due to the ongoing economic crisis. With a massive budget of Rs. 251 million, the project provides a one-time cash grant of Rs. 3,500 per client, which will be distributed to clients attached to Berendina Micro Investments Company Limited (BMIC) branches across 12 operational districts.
The main cash grant distribution event for the Anuradhapura District was held on May 3rd, 2023, at the District Secretariat Office in Anuradhapura. Ms. Sandya Abesingha, Additional District Secretary graced the event with her presence as the Chief Guest while Ms. H. L Thenuwara, Director of Agriculture, Anuradhapura District, Ms. D. G. W Depani Dharmasena, Productivity Promotion Officer, Anuradhapura District, Mr. Sumith Rathnayake, N.G.O Coordinator, Anuradhapura District as well as Berendina Officials participated at this special occasion as Special Invitees.
Over 1400 clients attached to BMIC’s Anuradhapura MaNuPa branch are benefitted by this project. The cash grant will enable BMIC’s clients to support their self-resilient home gardening and livelihood activities, helping them to confidently face the current food crisis and increase their spending power.
