Berendina Support Youth Enterprises in Batticaloa with Technical and Material Assistance
Berendina recently provided the equipment required for the improvement of youth-run enterprises in the Batticaloa district as part of its youth skills development program. As part of their self-employment training, these youths also offered workshops on business counseling and development. These youths work in a variety of industries, including event welding, bicycle repair, plumbing, carpentry, sewing, saloons, beauty salons, and installing CCTV camera systems.
The youths are from the Koralaipattu-Valaichchenai DS Division’s Kalmadu and Kinniyadi Grama Niladari Divisions. For the project’s first phase, Berendina chose 34 youths as recipients, and 09 of them received equipment for their enterprises.
The youth are from Kalmadu and Kinniyadi Grama Niladari Divisions that come under Koralaipattu-Valaichchenai DS Division. Berendina selected 34 youths as the project beneficiaries for the first phase and out of that 09 received equipments related to their enterprises. In attendance were Mr. R. Gankatharan, Assistant Director of Planning, Mrs. Jeyanathi Thiruselvam, Divisional Secretary, and Mrs. K. Amaliny, Assistant Divisional Secretary of the Koralaipattu-Valaichchenai DS Division.
