Berendina’s Bright Students Scholarships – A Step Towards a Brighter Future!

Berendina Micro Investments Company Ltd kicked off its Bright Students Scholarships Awarding Ceremony from the Northern Region on 6 September 2024. The vibrant inauguration took place at the District Training Center Auditorium in Kilinochchi, with Mr. Subiramaniyam Muralitharan, District Secretary of Kilinochchi, as the Chief Guest. The event also honored the presence of Mr. Arulanantham Sivanarulraja, Zonal Director of the North Zonal Education Department – Kilinochchi, alongside other esteemed dignitaries including the Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager of People’s Bank Kilinochchi Branch and Berendina officials.

39 bright students from Micro Credit client families across Chunnakam, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya have been awarded scholarships for the 2024 academic year. In addition to the scholarships, Berendina also provided essential study packs, including much-needed exercise books to an additional 25 students. This initiative showcases Berendina’s unwavering commitment to uplifting education in the Northern Province, where it has established a strong network through its branches. Over the next two years, these students will receive LKR 36,000 if they are in Science or Maths streams and LKR 24,000 if they are in Commerce or Arts streams to support their academic journey through their G.C.E. (A/L) examinations and in some cases, even for their second attempts.

In a commendable expansion, 709 students across all Berendina’s operational districts are benefiting from this program in 2024, reinforcing Berendina’s dedication to educational empowerment. Together, we’re building a brighter future for the next generation!
