Empowering Northern Province’s Brightest Minds: Berendina’s Bright Students Scholarships

The Northern Province of Sri Lanka is witnessing a transformative initiative as Berendina steps up to empower promising students through its Bright Students Scholarships. A vibrant inauguration ceremony recently took place at the Auditorium of the Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat office, marking the promising era for education in the region.

These scholarships are a testament to Berendina’s dedication to educational excellence. Carefully selected based on their outstanding performance in the G. C. E. (O/L) examinations and their potential to excel in the G. C. E. (A/L) stream, 29 students from families of Micro Credit clients in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, and Vavuniya districts have been granted the privilege of joining this scholarship program for the current academic year. This remarkable opportunity is an additional benefit extended to the clients of the Northern Province, where Berendina has established a robust presence through its branch network.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries from the Zonal Education Department and government institutions, underscoring the significance of this event. In addition to the scholarships, Berendina also provided essential study packs, including much-needed exercise books, to an additional 28 students. This thoughtful gesture ensures that these young scholars are equipped with the tools they need to excel in their academic journeys.

Berendina’s Bright Student Scholarship Program is more than just a financial lifeline; it’s a promise of ongoing support for these promising students. Over a period of two years, these students will receive monthly stipends of either LKR 1,000 or LKR 1,500. This financial assistance will continue until they successfully complete their G. C. E. (A/L) examinations and, in some instances, even for their second attempts. In a remarkable expansion of its commitment to education, Berendina extended its Bright Student Scholarship Program to benefit a total of 350 students in its operational districts in 2023. This reaffirms Berendina’s dedication to nurturing and fostering the future of our nation’s brightest minds, ensuring that they have the opportunities they need to thrive and make a significant impact on their communities and the world.
