Smart Classrooms for Mujahitha School in Trincomalee

The story of T/Kin Mujahitha School is a true testament to the transformative power of education and the impact that innovative thinking can have on students’ lives. As an underprivileged school in a rural area, the students faced significant educational challenges, including outdated teaching methods that were not aligned with modern education.

Thankfully, Berendina Development Services (BDS) recognized the school’s potential and intervened to help uplift the education of the students. In particular, BDS converted the classroom of grade three students from a regular classroom to a smart classroom, benefiting a total of 18 students, consisting of 13 boys and 5 girls.

The impact of this initiative has been remarkable. The students are now learning their primary education in a much more effective manner, thanks to the introduction of modern technology in their classrooms. The teaching methods have also changed, shifting from a teacher-centered approach to a student-centered education system, which has helped improve student performance.

Moreover, the introduction of technology has sparked the interest of the teachers, who are now eager to learn more and incorporate modern technology in their teaching and learning process. They hope that this will dramatically improve students’ achievements, particularly for slow learners.

The attendance rate of students has also increased gradually, resulting in an improvement in student engagement and motivation. Overall, the initiative taken by BDS has had a significant impact on the lives of these students, and it is a success story worth celebrating. With the continued support of organizations like BDS, we can hope to see many more such success stories in the future.
