Berendina Staffs in the North Participate in Gender Equality and Anti Sexual Harassment Policy Forum
On August 19, 2022, Berendina held a Gender Equality and Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy
Forum for its employees in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, and Vavuniya districts. The session was
held at the Rural Development Foundation Hall in Vanuniya, and 29 staff members attended
(Males 22 and Females 07). The primary objective of this training is to educate Berendina
employees about gender equality and the Berendina’s anti-sexual harassment policy,
allowing them to be more gender sensitive and create a harassment-free work environment.
Since the facilitator introduced the gender concepts through real-life examples, the
participants were able to grasp the concepts more clearly. Participants were informed about
the formal and informal reporting of any harassment within the organization, as well as the
roles of the Whistleblower Mechanism and the anti-sexual harassment committee.
